eCentre for teachers (eCentre)

An online portal that brings together quality digital resources and tools to support learning and teaching for teachers in government schools.

Group Training Organisation (GTO)

An organisation that employs apprentices and trainees under a training contract and places them with different businesses (host employers).

Learning Architecture Project (LeAP)

The project supports the Essential Learnings curriculum by delivering a set of integrated and interoperable online applications to enhance teaching and learning. LeAP applications enable teachers to plan learning experiences and units of work for delivery on or offline, access curriculum outcomes, record student assessments and report progress to inform students and parents.

National benchmark

A set of indicators or descriptors which represent nationally agreed minimum acceptable standards for a particular area of learning at a particular year level. The term ‘minimum acceptable standard’ is used to mean a critical level of performance without which a student will have difficulty making sufficient progress at school.

Training Package

Training Packages are sets of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications developed by industry and endorsed by the National Training Quality Council for recognising and assessing people’s skills.

New Apprenticeships

New Apprenticeships are contractual arrangements in which employers provide the opportunity for employees to combine work with structured training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

Partnership agreement

Government schools in Tasmania have formal agreements between the government, the school, its parents and members of its community. Each agreement sets targets for outcomes that the school wants to achieve.

Records disposal schedules

A records disposal schedule authorises appropriate disposal action (permanent retention, retention for specified periods of time or specified actions followed by destruction) for records created and stored by state and local government organisations.

Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

An organisation registered by a state or territory in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework to provide nationally recognised training and assessment services.

School improvement review (SIR)

A process that encourages a whole school community to consider how the school educates and cares for its students, with the aim of improving educational outcomes for students.

Tasmania: A State of Learning

The state government’s long-term strategic framework that sets out the vision, purposes and values for post-Year 10 education and training. The strategy comprises four key elements: Guaranteeing Futures; Ensuring Essential Literacies; Enhancing Adult Learning and Building Learning Communities.

A community-focused network of public computing facilities providing equitable supported access to online services, information and lifelong learning in accordance with state government strategic directions and local needs.
