Walk of Wonder
 |
‘I wonder why turtles sneak into their shells?’ was just one of the many ‘wonderings’ expressed by children in the Walk of Wonder exhibition this year.
Celebrating the minds of young children, the Walk of Wonder brought together 15 vibrant banners to form a colourful two kilometre walk around Bridgewater. The artwork, constructed by young children attending the early years centres and kindergartens at schools in the Brighton municipality, captured their ‘wonderings’ about the environment and the place where they live.
The delightful exhibition provided an exquisite insight into the minds of our young children; exploring how they learn, think, reflect and question.

Child care scholarship program
 |
Joye Fennell, an experienced child care practitioner, has been working with Tasmanian children for more than 11 years. To build on the skills she has gained while on the job, Joye is currently completing a Diploma in Children’s Services. Her studies have been supported by a scholarship provided through the Tasmanian Government’s $35,000 Children’s Services Scholarships program; an initiative which has helped 50 child carers access training this year alone.
After receiving an initial scholarship in 2004, which helped her earn a certificate III qualification, Joye chose to continue on to the diploma. Joye says that her studies have changed how she looks at her work, furthering her understanding of how to support small children as they develop and grow.
