Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS)

Performance Indicators in Primary School (PIPS) is a formal assessment that all students complete in Prep. It helps identify children who are not achieving expected standards in literacy and numeracy.  PIPS consists of two separate assessments, conducted in the first four weeks of Term 1 and again in early Term 3.

A brochure outlining the PIPS program is provided to the parents of Prep students at the beginning of the school year.

Parents of children who score less than 40 in the first assessment are notified and an appropriate intervention program is developed. Children with scores below 40 in the second assessment continue to be provided with support in the following year.

All parents of children in Prep are provided with information about their performance on PIPS and the opportunity to discuss their results with teachers.
