Involving parents/guardians

Parents/guardians play a vital role in their child’s the transition planning process. Particularly for young people with more complex needs, parental involvement is crucial. Research indicates that more positive post-school outcomes are achieved for young people with a disability when their parents/guardians are actively involved in the transition planning process.

Together with their child, parents/guardians are key members of the transition planning team.

Fact sheets for parents/guardians provide information for parents/guardians about the transition planning process and ways they can support the process.

Questionnaires assist parents/guardians in putting together their views about their hopes and aspirations for their child’s future.

These resources are available on the templates and fact sheets for parents and guardians page.
