The Tasmanian Curriculum is organised into seven areas: English – literacy (including LOTE – Languages Other Than English), Mathematics – numeracy, Science, Society and History, Health and wellbeing, the Arts and Vocational and Applied Learning (VAL).
Skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Thinking are developed in all areas of the curriculum.
Schools are encouraged to provide rich learning experiences in all areas of the Tasmanian Curriculum. In consultation with their communities, schools are best placed to make decisions about the personal learning program of each student.
The requirements in the Curriculum Guidance Statement enable national agreements about student learning and assessment to be met in Tasmanian Government schools. Schools implementing the Tasmanian Curriculum will be also meeting requirements of the National Statements of Learning.
The Tasmanian Curriculum is based on an agreed set of Values, Purposes and Goals refined through extensive consultation. There will be monthly updates on the Tasmanian Curriculum.
