The Tasmanian Curriculum is organised into seven areas and five standards. The areas are: English–literacy (including LOTE – Languages Other Than English), Mathematics–numeracy, Science, Society and History, Health and wellbeing, the Arts and Vocational and Applied Learning (VAL). Skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Thinking are developed in all curriculum areas. Curriculum area K-10 syllabus and support materials can be accessed through the relevant link.
Sustainability is an important cross-curricular perspective in the areas of the Tasmanian Curriculum. Sustainable practices are an important goal of education as students undertake their personal, educational and career pathways and take their place as informed and active citizens in the Tasmanian community.
Standards state what students can do. The curriculum is organised from standard one to standard five, describing the years of schooling from Kindergarten to Year 10. Further information about standards can be accessed through each curriculum area or using the resources below.
