The department is responsible for providing public education, vocational education and training, adult and community education, and library and archive services throughout Tasmania.
Services are provided through four major organisational units:
- Early Years
- Learning Services
- Skills Tasmania
- Information Services and Community Learning
These service areas are supported by business units responsible for corporate support, policy development, regulation, and assessment and review. Many of the department’s business units contribute to more than one service area.
