$20 million in maintenance projectsThe State Government is seeking tenders for maintenance projects worth up to $20 million. Premier and Minister for Education and Skills, David Bartlett, said today that contractors are being sought for maintenance and facility management services for the Department of Education’s schools, libraries, adult education centres and corporate offices. “The State Government is committed to providing high quality facilities for our students and other clients who use our buildings. “The work will also provide an important boost for the construction and trades industry in difficult financial times,” Mr Bartlett said. “The tenders cover roof maintenance and upgrade program, the maintenance of fire systems and equipment, lift maintenance, maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning and building controls and mechanical services equipment,” Mr Bartlett said. “The four tenders have been assessed to have a total value of up to $20 million over the potential life of the contracts. “Successful tenderers will work in partnership with the Department of Education to meet both the short and long term maintenance needs at individual sites. “I want quality curriculum, quality facilities and quality educators. Our ongoing commitment to providing better learning environments for students means we need to maintain facilities in a way that is cost effective and meets industry best practice. Tenders for the maintenance and facility management program are being advertised in the state’s three main newspapers tomorrow and close on March 20. The maintenance will cover: SOUTH 96 schools, 9 libraries 21 teacher residences NORTH 57 schools 5 libraries 40 teacher residences NORTH WEST 60 schools 6 libraries 75 teacher residences
