Two maths/science pre-service teachers have been awarded scholarships under the Maths/Science Higher Education Loan Payment (HELP) Scholarship Program.

The scholarships were offered to maths/science pre-service teachers who were enrolled in the first year of the Bachelor of Teaching degree or the second year of the combined Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Teaching degree at the University of Tasmania in 2008.

The program covers the costs of the HELP fee of the Bachelor of Teaching component of the scholarship holder’s teacher training course for the following two years.  Recipients benefit from targeted placement in appropriate schools during the professional experience program and ongoing mentoring and support from Department of Education staff.  At the successful completion of the teacher training course, scholarship holders are placed in suitable vacancies as permanent teachers in the Tasmanian public education system.
