Strong Economy. Strong Communities.

It gives me great pleasure to present to you the education and training allocation in this year’s State Budget.

The State Government is investing a record $776.65 million in the education of Tasmania’s children in the 2006-07 Consolidated Fund Appropriation for education and training.

Tasmanians of all ages will benefit from a Budget that provides quality education for all young people, creates life-long learning opportunities and ensures we have the high quality training options to meet our skills needs.

This Budget creates opportunities for Tasmanians before, during and after the compulsory years of schooling.

Please read the attached information which highlights many of our initiatives. If you would like more information on the Budget please contact my office on: Ph: 6233 8807.

Yours sincerely

David Bartlett
Minister for Education
