The Tasmanian Government values the contributions that university graduates [PDF 233KB] can make to the Tasmanian community, and offers a number of jobs for people who have graduated from university. Every year the Tasmanian Government recruits university graduates from numerous study backgrounds to work in varied jobs in the different Government Agencies. In general, graduate positions are often combined with a training and development program to help graduates apply and develop the knowledge they have learned at university to working in the State Government. Joining the State Government as a university graduate offers an excellent career path, the opportunity to build upon skills as well as the opportunity for further study.

The Department of Education, Tasmania offers permanent graduate recruitment opportunities for teachers and administrative trainees.

Administrative trainees are employed under the Administrative and Clerical Employees Award. There are specific salary progression scales associated with these positions.
