The Department is currently undertaking new building and refurbishment projects. Of major significance are newly planned high schools. Also provided in this section is application and policy information relating to new guidelines for capital works in Tasmanian schools.

Design Guidelines and supporting documents
This Design Guidelines Checklist is a guide to the design, planning and performance criteria specifically for the Department of Education in new buildings and new building work, e.g. renovations and upgrades.
Building the Education Revolution
The Australian Government has committed funding over three years to provide new facilities and refurbishments in Australian schools to meet the needs of 21st century students and teachers through the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program.
Bridgewater and Southern Midlands Education Renewal Taskforce (BASMERT)
BASMERT is the taskforce commissioned to review and oversee redevelopment of education delivery in the Brighton area prompted by the loss of Bridgewater High School in 2007.
Capital Planning and Development

Capital Planning and Development (CPD) is responsible for the administration of major and minor construction/building projects through State and Australian Government funded programs. These include the Capital Investment Program and the Minor Works and Essential Maintenance Program.

Kingston Education Project
The Minister for Education, David Bartlett, has announced that the new $30 million Kingston High School will be built on a site in Kingston View Drive, adjacent to the existing Kingborough Sports Centre.
New Schools in Claremont
School amalgamation in Claremont has resulted in three new schools - Montrose Bay High, Windermere Primary and Austins Ferry Primary.
