BRIDGEWATER PETITION

The Minister for Education and Skills, David Bartlett, today received a petition from members of the Save Bridgewater High group.

Mr Bartlett said he welcomed any input from the Bridgewater community regarding the future of education in the area.

“I said I would listen to the community of Bridgewater and that commitment stands,” he said.

“They have delivered a clear message to me today and I can assure the community that I will be listening to their ideas and feedback.

“The Bridgewater and Southern Midlands Educational Renewal Taskforce is also working hard to consult with the community

“Around 60 parents in the area have already taken part in a series of focus groups to discuss the future of education in Bridgewater and the Southern Midlands.

“A community workshop was held for interested members of the public on February 20 and a forum was also held for teachers on February 25.

“I look forward to receiving a report from the taskforce by the end of March.”
