Welcome to the second snapshot of our state's public education system with the release of Tasmania's Education Performance Report 2008 - Government Schools.

This year's report is not only important because it provides parents and the wider Tasmanian community with current information on the government's priority areas of the early years, literacy and numeracy, student retention, school improvement and equity but for the first time the community will be able to compare achievement and improvement with the previous year.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to improving educational outcomes and the Tasmania's Education Performance Report 2008 is an important tool in measuring progress towards achievement of our goals.
