Vision

Informing Tasmanians envisages a Tasmanian society that uses, values and has ready access to quality information as a vital resource in the pursuit of prosperity, quality of life, lifelong learning, informed decision making, and for the development of personal and community wellbeing.

Key principles

  • Access to information is necessary for the development and maintenance of Tasmania as an informed and democratic society.
  • Providing equitable access to information is a public good.
  • All Tasmanians should become lifelong users of information and information technology.
  • Relevant and accurate information should be available to all Tasmanians in a manner that is easy to access and in the fastest possible time.
  • Access to quality information is necessary to foster an atmosphere of innovation and initiative.
