- Promote the value of information throughout the Tasmanian community.
- Develop lifelong learning opportunities throughout the Tasmanian community.
- Ensure that Tasmanians have the necessary skills in both general literacy and information literacy to access and use information effectively.
Information content
Objective
To ensure that public information content is of the highest quality in terms of reliability and relevance to Tasmanians.
Target areas
- Ensure that appropriate information is made available on public networks.
- Make available, where appropriate, public information content from resources held in government information repositories.
- Develop community information gateways that manage, organise and quality assure information, including electronic information and provide opportunities for comment and dialogue.
- Establish an information strategy that identifies gaps and duplication, and encourages sharing, exchange and access to public information. Develop public information services tailored to the needs of specific sectors (such as health and education).
