Archives Office of Tasmania

The Archives Office is set up under the Archives Act.

On our site you can find information about the policy and regulatory structures and framework for State and local government recordkeeping; the retention and disposal of government records; and facilities and services for public access and use of the State's archives.

Our site also includes:

• the Tasmanian Archives Online database, which contains descriptive information about the State’s archives
• name indexes, which index the contents of specific archival records relating to people
• an index to our photographic holdings, which includes copies of the images
• a database providing descriptive information about our film and video holdings
