Fundraising is an opportunity to promote health

Fundraising activities can be a great opportunity to complement the nutrition and health messages taught within the classroom and wider school environment.  Healthy fundraising options also reinforce the work of the canteen and forms part of a supportive environment for health.

Using everyday foods (e.g. fruits and vegetables) or essential items (e.g. sunscreen or coloured pencils) for fundraising rather than occasional foods (e.g. chocolates, lamingtons) or luxury items can help place less financial pressure on families.  

Fundraising needs to be successful

For many schools and community groups, fundraising is often regarded as a financial necessity for the purchase of classroom and sporting equipment and other resources.

With many unhealthy fundraisers available, schools and community groups face the dilemma of making fundraising choices that are to the detriment of the health of their students or members and their families.
