Fruit Breaks at Rokeby Primary ..how they tackle them.

Rokeby Primary School received a free apple slinky machine during the recent Fruit and Veg Month in recognition of some of the great work they are doing to promote healthy eating.

Here's how they tackle fruit breaks:

"Everyday Grade 6 leaders run a Daily PE program (DPE). immediately after this is Fruit Break time.

Children bring fruit from home, can buy from the school canteen or share.

One DPE group (who do walking) walks to the local Community Centre twice a week. Fruit is provided for them from there.

The Community Centre also donates fruit (when it becomes available) to the school which is then shared between all classes.

Some classes tally and graph as a way of promoting fruit and veg in lunchboxes.

In addition two classes every week cook lunches using fresh fruit and veg."
