Premier's Reading Challenge 2008

The Premier’s Reading Challenge aims to promote a love of reading and to engage students to read, to read more and to read more widely.

The Challenge is a proven strategy that will help to promote to young students, their parents and the community that literacy and reading is an essential life skill.

Parents and families can support children’s school-based learning by reading to and with them at home, strengthening students’ love of reading for pleasure.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge runs between 21 April and 30 September 2008 for students in Grades 1-6. Students can accept the Challenge to read 20 books during this time.

Consent form for parents [PDF 142KB], to be completed and returned by 30th May 2008.

1-30 June 2008 MS Readathon
2-13 June 2008 School holidays
30 June 2008 Final date for students to read 10 books and be eligible for iPod and audio-book voucher draw
18 July 2008 iPod and audio-book voucher prize draw
16-22 August 2008 Children’s Book Week activities
8-19 September 2008 School Holidays
30 September 2008 Challenge completion date – 20 books must have been read
November 2008 TBA Three regional celebrations with the Premier.
December 2008 TBA Reading Challenge 2008 certificates sent to schools
