National Literacy and Numeracy Week is an Australian government initiative, run in collaboration with state and territory governments, which aims to:
- showcase the hard work school communities are undertaking in improving literacy and numeracy skills
- raise community awareness of the importance of all Australian students developing effective literacy and numeracy skills
- build on national initiatives to improve literacy and numeracy standards among young Australians.
The theme for NLNW 2008 is Partnerships in Learning. Across Australia, parents, teachers and communities are working together to develop the literacy and numeracy skills of Australia’s young people.
