Literacy and numeracy expos

This is a new initiative to be negotiated in conjunction with representatives from each of the four government Learning Services, the Association of Independent Schools Tasmania and the Catholic Education Office. Professional learning workshops will be presented in each educational region during August and October. Teachers and schools from government and non-government sectors will participate equally in the events.

Partnerships in learning: professional conversations in literacy and numeracy

All teachers from government, catholic and independent schools are invited to attend informal professional learning sessions sponsored by National Literacy and Numeracy Week in partnership with the professional associations ALEA, TATE and MAT.

Share afternoon tea with colleagues at 3.30 pm and find out what ideas for literacy and numeracy teachers have developed in their schools this year. The program also includes a MAT numeracy work shop and ALEA coffee chat.

All teachers are welcome. The NLNW committee hopes that at least one representative from each school will attend a professional conversation.

Celebrations of literacy and numeracy in Tasmania

During October celebrations of this year’s achievements in literacy and numeracy will be held in each educational region. The program will showcase the successes that schools have had in 2008 and will include show and tell sessions from the winners of celebration grants.

Further details will be available soon.
