Assessing

Learning will be assessed primarily using the Tasmanian Languages (LOTE) Proficiency Outcomes.

Assessment should include assessing for learning (to inform the teaching program), as learning (students actively participating in assessing processes) and of learning (summative assessment, often for reporting to parents and accountability).

As the primary purpose for assessment is to improve learning, assessment practices must be inclusive, explicit, valid and reliable. Formative, ongoing assessment which is designed to improve learning will be central to Languages programs. Students will participate in the assessment of their learning through peer assessment and self-assessment.
