They talk funny! Cultural understanding through a sociological framework

As a culminating performance, students viewed existing video then produced their own ‘video diaries’ outlining aspects of their own lives, particularly in terms of popular teenage culture. Relevant language that would assist students in making their diaries was taught in the preceding weeks. This included introductions, talking about hobbies, likes and dislikes. A relationship with a ‘sister school’ in the target cultures was planned, with the aim of having students swap realia (catalogues, magazines, etcetera) and sharing their student videos.
