Students learnt about life in the circus ‘then and now’ and what it means to be part of a circus community. There was a focus on what circus people eat to keep healthy and how this compares to students’ own diets, how life in a circus is different from students’ lives and how it is similar, and on encouraging students’ personal development and confidence.
Students prepared job applications and conducted interviews for the scenario of joining Cirque de Soleil on a Tasmanian tour. They created and practised circus acts and gave a circus performance in French. One group performed in front of a live audience of primary and high school students while another group created a video performance. Students were also responsible for catering for their post-performance celebration!
