A bridge between you and me

Students came to understand that a community is made up of a range of cultural and language groups. They considered questions including. Who are the people in my community? How do I help to create healthy communities? How can I be a part of a healthy community?

Using their research, students were asked to develop a performance in the form of a role play in which they demonstrated aspects of cultural norms and deviations such as Japanese meal time. Students used appropriate language in their role play.

In their reflective journals students were asked to reflect on this learning sequence by conducting a ‘community of inquiry’.
