Janine McCullough (French and Indonesian); Ann-Louise Moir (Indonesian, SOSE and English)

This unit tied in with the Grade 7 overarching goal for our school: Whose place is this?

Students researched the attractions of their local area and deconstructed and analysed travel brochures in SOSE and English to identify persuasive strategies. Students then produced a text advocating the attractions of their local area, using Indonesian or French, based on this scenario:

A travel company wants to offer a new concept in tourism – tours for Indonesian or French people to visit regional areas in Tasmania. They would like you to produce advertising material such as a travel brochure, a poster or a web page in our target language, to sell the idea to French or Indonesian tourists.
