Scholarships

NB: Teachers from government schools applying for scholarships involving paid leave should seek permission from their principal. All successful applicants will need to seek permission from the Premier.

2009 Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships

The Asia Education Foundation, on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, invites applications from practising and trainee (pre-service) language teachers in Australia for the 2009 Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships (ELTF).

The ELTF, part of the broader Endeavour Awards, provides opportunities for language teachers to improve their language proficiency and cultural knowledge through an intensive short-term study program. Programs run over three-weeks in January 2009.

The Fellowship provides return airfares, accommodation, tuition, some meals and cultural activities. Application packs and further information can be downloaded from:

French Scholarships

The Stage de Besançon will be held in January 2009. Guidelines [Word 53KB] are attached. Note that the closing date is 30 September 2008

German Language Course Scholarships

Indonesian scholarships

The University of Tasmania School of Asian Languages and Studies is offering two In-Country Study Programs to teachers wishing to refresh language skills in Japan or Indonesia. Interested teachers can apply for a $500 scholarship from the School of Asian Languages and Studies. Additional details are available in this flyer [PDF 470KB]

Japanese scholarships

Information and guidelines can be found on the Japan Foundation website www.jpf.org.au

Japanese Intensive Seminar January 2009 for senior secondary teachers of Japanese.
The guidelines and application form for the Intensive Seminar that is being offered by the Japan Foundation in January 2009 are available. It is offered to both government and non-government teachers but the Japan Foundation has asked that non-government teachers apply through their own jurisdictions. Government teachers should send their application to Sue Tolbert by October 24. DoE support is available.
