  • Alternative education program offered, in addition to programs for other high schools and colleges

  • Facilitates applied learning opportunities across all years
  • VET Agriculture Certificate 2 courses available
  • Incorporates community based horse programs, horticulture programs and the establishment of a wetland area

  • Producing mixed crops and berries
  • Accommodates approximately 30% of the student body
  • Also accessed by the school science area

Supported by Landcare, Greencorp and Work for the Dole programs

  • Classes utilise farm and link to curriculum up to two times per week

  • Occasionally used for gardening and sporadic MARSS programs

Established links with TFGA, Roberts Ltd and local farmers to work on establishing gardens and animal handling programs

Kings Meadows High School

  • Incorporating 50 individual vegetable gardens and an additional olive tree orchard

Linked to local Lions Club and plans to collaborate with Conservation Volunteers to rejuvenate a bush block.

Lilydale District High School

  • Agricultural area
  • Including animal nursery, aviary and poultry facilities, vegetable and herb gardens, plus native corridor and frog pond
  • Whole of school utilise, but programs in grades 7 and 8 for personal investigations and landcare work

Mole Creek Primary

  • Accommodating sheep, an orchard and garden

Self funding and used to raise funds for the school through the sale of the annual wool clip.

Oatlands District High

  • Operating farm - cattle and sheep
  • Utilised by grade 9 and 10 agriculture studies students

  • Offering programs such as ‘intro to plant science’ for grades 1, 2, 3 and 7 to 10

  • Plans to grow produce for home economics area and to put an incubator in place to raise silkies/bantams and quail

  • Caters for agricultural studies grades 7-10
  • Cattle handling offered after school hours
  • Integral part of the school curriculum

A committee run this farm and return any money raised through its activities to the school.

Winnaleah District High School

  • Hosting programs that include gardening, raising chickens, goats and cattle plus some horticulture activities

Maintains links with a Farm Board, local producers, pony breeders and Elders.

Woodbridge District High School

4 hectares

  • Involves students from K-6 in landcare programs and students 7-10 as part of the aqua science program
Wynyard High School  6 hectares
  •  Agriculture and Science students from 7-10 involved in vegetable growing, tomato seedling enterprise, maintenance of an orchard and animal husbandry
  • Water watch program
 

Yolla District High School

6.8 hectares

Provides a variety of activities based on the year cohort:

  • Up to grade 7 involved in backyard agriculture that includes horticulture, growing vegetables and fruit and rabbits;
  • Grade 8 also include animal husbandry and hydroponics and;
  • Grades 9 and 10 students advance to cattle management, sheep shearing, dairy, tractor driving, agricultural machinery maintenance, fencing and water management;
  • Farm has 400 rainbow trout and students learn about aquaculture. Regular visits from other schools
