1.1 An effective school library:
- Provides appropriate resources (including digital resources) and information to meet the needs of the school community
- Utilises current technology to provide efficient access to and effective communication of information
- Provides opportunities and resources for teachers to integrate information skills into learning activities
- Is provided with sufficient funding to achieve the school's educational aims
- Enriches students reading experiences and develops their skills as independent learners
- Supports the teaching and learning process
- Has adequate professional and trained support staff
- Is planned and designed to be a pleasant and stimulating learning environment
- Is monitored regularly to assess its use
- Improves student literacy standards
- Models and monitors priorities based on contemporary library principles
