Most Tasmanian government school libraries operate an automated library system - TALIS. TALIS is a networked library management system that is shared across Tasmania by school, college, public, polytechnic and government libraries, and the State Library of Tasmania. Resources are catalogued into a shared database and schools use their view of this central pool of records when circulating items or searching the online catalogue.

Symphony is the application software that runs the TALIS system.

eLibrary is the online catalogue, also known as the TALIS OPAC used by the school, college and polytechnic libraries.

TALIS is developed and supported by Systems Support at the State Library of Tasmania, and delivered to schools via the telecommunications infrastructure managed by Information and Technology Services of the Department of Education. Systems Support has a comprehensive website that is available to all TALIS sites using a secure logon. Non-TALIS users cannot access the information.
