Centre for Extended Learning (CELO)

CELO supports schools, teachers and parents in improving the learning outcomes of students who are highly able / gifted from pre-school to year 10.

CELO provides the following programs and services:

CELOs key functions

Our key functions include:
  • building the capacity of teachers and schools to identify students who are highly able / gifted and implement a range of strategies to improve their learning outcomes and engagement
  • assisting schools and teachers to implement the Department of Education policy, Education for Students who are Gifted (2000) and its associated guidelines
  • providing support and advice:
    • in developing curriculum differentiation within the Tasmanian Curriculum Framework
    • about early entry and acceleration programs
    • about extension activities, including Future Problem Solving and critical thinking based programs
    • for a range of online opportunities including the design, development and delivery of online programs such as Ad Astra, Pegasus and Socrates Café and
  • providing a point of contact for teachers and parents
