Students who are highly able / gifted from grades 7 to 10 will be active members of an online community.
Each year in the Pegasus Project a slightly different focus is taken. This year participants will look at themselves as consumers and whether or not critical thinking takes place when they purchase. Do their values and beliefs impact on what they purchase?
They will investigate the reasoning behind some products that are seen as key to survival for their generation - including the mobile phone.
What power do participants have with regard to the purchases that parents or family make - from a day to day perspective to those bigger purchases?
Why are participants powerful in the consumer market and what drives their need to purchase or spend?
To enable these questions to be explored, students will investigate their own thoughts, beliefs and value systems. Current events and issues of a global, national and local nature will also be considered, along with popular culture and other interests. These topics will act as discussion starters.
This process will create a dynamic community of learners who will be part of rich discussions and learning. Students will gain greater confidence and understanding of their world and what impacts on their thinking.
Minimum requirements:

Support teacher
Schools nominating students for CELO programs must commit to supporting their students. Where the support person is not the classroom teacher, good communication between the support person, delivery teacher and the classroom teacher is crucial to enable strong links to the students' classroom program.
