Vocational Education and Learning (often known as VEL) is learning that helps students to understand the world of work and helps them to develop knowledge and skills which will be relevant to a wide range of work environments.

VEL includes a whole range of areas that students might cover in high school such as pathway planning, career education, enterprise projects, and community-based learning and work experience. It also includes vocational education and training (VET) programs that students might enrol in at college, at a Skill Centre or through TAFE Tasmania.
