  • Billets - to maximise the health, safety and wellbeing of school students involved in billeting situations all billet hosts within Tasmania are required to undergo a Good Character Check. A similar process is to be adopted for all other interstate and international locations.
  • Good Character Checks - apply to all adults (18 years and over) who have direct dealings with students in school-related activities.
  • Supervision of Students - The provision of effective supervision of students is crucial to their safety and to the achievement of the educational goals of the excursion or program’s goals.
  • Unaccompanied and Solo Activities - Orienteering competitions and expeditions conducted, for example, under the auspices of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme have traditionally been conducted without direct teacher supervision however there have been significant changes to the way these activities must be organised.
  • Walkathons -The Road Safety Section of Transport Tasmania and local police should be contacted during the planning process of Walkathons.
