This website is an accompaniment to the Tasmanian Government’s Pandemic Website (www.pandemic.tas.gov.au). The information contained in this website provides education-sector specific information to both government and non-government schools and colleges on how to deal with an influenza pandemic should it occur. In the case of any discrepancies between the information provided on this and the Government’s Pandemic Website, the information contained in the latter will prevail.
This website does not provide education-related information that can be readily accessed on the Government’s Pandemic Website. On this website, links are provided to any topics of general interest on the Government’s Website, and topics that specifically relate to the educational sector.
This website will be continually updated to provide the latest available information.
DoE has been part of the Government’s pandemic management planning process, and has developed comprehensive Pandemic Management and Business Continuity Plans that would be implemented prior to and during a pandemic. These plans will be made available as the situation demands.
At this stage, there is nothing that individual school or business units need to do to prepare for an influenza pandemic. More information will be provided on this and the Government’s Websites in the case of an escalated threat.
