Role of the class teacher

• Prior to the program, or during post program follow-up, please endeavor to implement a unit of Water Safety within the class room.
• Ensure swimming staff know full history of those students who have physical and intellectual disabilities, and any other medical conditions (e.g.. epilepsy, asthma, deafness) and students who are extremely nervous or who have behavior problems.
• Under guidance of the specialist Physical Education Teacher, be actively involved in the program.

Assist in:

• Outlining pool rules to the students.
• Grouping students into ability groups.
• Follow-up or investigate non-participants or absentees.
• Supervision of working groups, maintaining students on task.
• Supervision of changerooms.
