School Life 2012This website provides information on the Tasmanian education system for parents and carers on all aspects of government schooling, from kindergarten through to college, from starting and leaving ages and how to enrol, to what children learn at school and how you can become involved. Information on services and support for children aged 0-4 years is contained in the Early Learning pages.

The School Life information booklet is a guide designed for parents and carers of students in Tasmanian government schools.

Whether your child is starting school for the first time or continuing on, you’ll find plenty of useful information on everything from assessment and reporting to the curriculum, health and wellbeing and your rights and responsibilities as a parent.

There are also practical tips on things like getting to and from school, medical advice, getting involved in your school community and a list of school term dates.

As a parent you have a vital role to play in supporting your child in their journey through school.

Getting involved in your school community is a great way to show your child that you are interested in, and supportive of, their education and this will help them to thrive at school.

We hope that you find School Life useful and wish you and your child a happy and successful 2012 school year.
