The Department of Education supports 40 students in government schools around the state with a scholarship to support additional tuition in musical performance. Cash grants are made to parents at the start of each school term.
Applications are called annually at the beginning of Term 3. Successful students take up their scholarships at the beginning of the following school year and, subject to satisfactory reports, hold the scholarship until the end of Grade 10.
