engage magazine focuses on helpful hints and practical information about how parents can help their children experience a complete and enriching education.
engage is a magazine for parents and carers of Tasmanian Government school students.
This magazine is the result of a recommendation from the Engaging Our School Communities Taskforce which looked at ways of better linking schools, parents and the wider community. It aims to improve communication between the Department of Education and parents and carers.
The publication is delivered to all Tasmanian Government schools together with a cover letter from the Communication Services Unit. Schools are requested to distribute the magazine ‘one per family’ – ie given to the oldest child.
Issue 1 was released early August 2008 and readers were encouraged to provide feedback. This information was used to assist with the preparation of Issue 2; particularly regarding story ideas.
A number of measures have been implemented to reduce production costs. These are:
- using the same design concept;
- reducing the number of pages;
- avoiding a glossy publication;
- continuing to offer online subscription; and
- encouraging recycling of the magazine.
Issue 2 was distributed to schools and subscribers in November 2008. If you'd like to receive future electronic issues of engage, complete the subscription form.
