Department of Education, Tasmania, offers a small number of study tours each year. Study tour programs are suitable for:

• primary school students aged 11- 12 years (Year 5 and 6);
• high school students aged 12 - 16 years (Year 7-10);
• senior secondary students aged 17-19 years (Year 11-12); and
• professional development for adults.

Host schools may be located in the larger cities - Hobart, Launceston or Devonport - or in regional or rural areas, depending on your requirements.

Study tours may have a duration of 1 week - 3 weeks (maximum).

All study tour participants are provided with homestay accommodation, usually arranged by the host school, with homestay families selected from within the host school community. All homestay families are carefully screened and approved by Department of Education and must undergo an Australian police check (good character check).

Study tour education programs include:

• daily English language tuition with a qualified English language teacher;
• excursions to nearby places of interest; and
• integrated classroom activities with local students.

All study tour programs are individually designed to suit client needs. They may have a special focus, such as:

• buddies;
• science;
• farming;
• marine studies;
• environmental studies;
• community and cultural studies; or
• a combination of these.

Tasmania is a surprisingly diverse place. There are beaches, rainforests, mountains, inland fishing lakes, farming areas and cities. There are 17 national parks, unique and diverse wildlife, and many beautiful places to visit. We offer a progressive and inclusive education system.
