Information for education agents

Education agents wishing to establish a relationship with Department of Education with a view to assisting students applying to study in Tasmania, should contact the International Education Unit of Department of Economic Development:

Education agents may claim commission for introducing students to Department of Education. The education agent must be the nominated agent of the student at the time of lodging their application, and this must be indicated on the student application form.

Commission may be claimed at the rate of 15% of the first years tuition fee, or if the course is less than one year, at 15% of the total course fee. Department of Education cannot pay commission until the first years tuition fee has been paid in full. For students who commence mid-year, commission will be paid after the student has paid the equivalent of one full year's tuition fee.

Claims for commission should be lodged in the form of an invoice and mailed to:

Invoices should contain the following information:

  • business name of education agent
  • name of representative
  • contact details (address, phone, fax email)
  • date of invoice
  • a table listing the names of the students in respect of whom commission is being claimed, together with their commencement dates and total tuition fee paid by each student
  • the total amount of commission being claimed (in Australian dollars)
    bank account details for payment of commission (bank name, bank address, account name, account number, and any other required information
