Tasmanian Budget 2018-19

The State Budget for 2018-19 was announced today, the Budget contains many positives for the Department, and for public education in Tasmania. The Government is continuing to invest in education and training, spending $6.75 billion over four years.
We know that education is the single most powerful driver for improving economic and social outcomes in Tasmania.
This year’s Budget supports the delivery of the Department’s Strategic Plan, Learners First: Every Learner, Every Day with commitments to: build key new education infrastructure and increase teacher numbers in our schools by 250 over the next six years; support the early years with new Early Years Hubs and the Working Together for 3 Year Olds initiative , providing free pre-school for eligible children; and supporting child and student wellbeing and supporting students with disability.
