Family Violence Survey – Hearing Lived Experience

Eliminating family violence remains a top priority for the Tasmanian Government.

Safe Homes, Safe Families committed an additional $26 million over four years to fund 23 new and direct actions to address family violence in Tasmania. Since its launch, strong progress has been made in the implementation of Safe Homes, Safe Families and the 2018-19 State Budget committed an additional $20.2 million toward family violence initiatives, including $18 million toward The Government’s next steps to eliminate family violence.

The Government is committed to continuing its flexible and evidence-based approach and listening to emerging issues, and is undertaking a comprehensive review of the family violence service system in Tasmania to inform the next steps

These stories matter. We know how important it is that these voices are heard through the review.

As part of this review, and to ensure our approach to family violence service delivery is ‘on track’, we want to hear from people with lived experience of family violence about their recent experience of engaging with family violence or community services in Tasmania.

The Hearing Lived Experience survey will run from Monday 5 November to Sunday 2 December 2018 and is accessed at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/safehomessafefamilies. The survey has been developed in consultation with family violence service providers, who can also assist participants to fill out the survey. The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and survey participants will remain completely anonymous.

Information from this survey will be used to inform the next stage in our responses to family violence, including to guide regional face-to-face roundtables being held in early 2019.

By listening to the experience of people affected by family violence, we aim to make services more accessible, responsive and effective.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Bridget Eltham, Senior Policy Analyst, Communities Tasmania on 6232 7662 or at Bridget.Eltham@communities.tas.gov.au.
