Family Engagement Review 2019
3 June 2019
Families are the first and most influential educators of our children. Evidence shows that when families are engaged in education, student retention, achievement and wellbeing outcomes all improve. In 2018, the Department of Education undertook a review of how it engages families in education and decision making. The Family Engagement Review Report makes three recommendations for building on existing strengths and targeting specific areas for improvement. The Minister accepted these recommendations in April 2019.
The Department would like to thank all those who informed the Review during consultation, including the Tasmanian Association of State School Organisations, individual school associations, the Australian Council of State School Organisations, the Commissioner for Children and Young People, the Tasmanian Principals’ Association, the Peter Underwood Centre for Educational Attainment, and Department of Education staff in schools, CFCs and policy teams.
