Review of School Intake Areas: Primary and Combined Schools

The Department of Education (DoE) is seeking your views as part of its ongoing review of intake areas for Tasmanian government primary and combined (district) schools, to apply from 2021.

DoE has developed a set of Proposed Intake Area Maps based on feedback received from the community in the first round of consultation, held in 2018.

This is the second community consultation round we will be holding prior to the maps being finalised.

The consultation period closes on Friday, 27 September 2019.

Please note that any changes to intake areas resulting from the review will only apply from 2021 and will only apply to new enrolments.  

  • Parents will still be able to apply to their school of choice, if capacity allows.
  • The review will not change the way schools enrol students who live outside their intake area.
  • The review will not affect students who are already enrolled in a school before 2021.
  • If a child has a sibling already attending a school outside their intake area, then the child can enrol at the same school as their sibling.
