City of Hobart Partner Schools MOU signed

On Thursday 5 December, the Principals of Ogilvie and New Town High Schools and Elizabeth College signed a MOU to formalise an exciting and collaborative partnership to support a contemporary and flexible approach to education in inner city Hobart.

The partnership has developed organically during 2019 beginning with co-educational classes in Sports Science and Theatre Studies at the two high schools.

In 2020, as part of the MOU, each school will offer specialised courses of study with some students undertaking programs at two or more of the schools, where they will have shared enrolments.

The partnership will provide:

  • Years 7 and 8 single sex schooling at New Town High School and Ogilvie High School
  • specialised co-educational classes in Years 9 and 10 across both New Town High School and Ogilvie High School – in 2020 these schools will offer more than 10 co-educational subjects
  • co-educational classes in Years 11 and 12 across all three schools.

The MOU signing appropriately took place at Elizabeth College during rehearsals for the musical performance, Back to the 80s,with a cast from the co-educational 9 and 10 Theatre Studies class.
