North West Schools Set to Return to start Term 2

Students in the North West of Tasmania will be able to return to school to commence Term 2 on Monday 4 May.

They will join other Government School Students across the State who started Term 2 last week, Tuesday 28 April.

Keeping children at home and supporting their learning where possible is the best thing we can do to support Tasmania’s response to COVID-19.

However, school sites in the North West will now be open for students who cannot be supervised or supported to learn from home, for example due to parents or carers’ work commitments.

The additional week of restrictions has helped to get on top of the outbreak in the North West, and we thank each and every one of you for your cooperation and understanding.

We do not expect parents or carers to be experts, it will be teachers who continue to lead student learning by providing the appropriate learning activities

Students’ teachers will provide parents with learning activities and tasks, which have been designed for the individual student and adjusted for the home environment.

As always these arrangements will be regularly reviewed in light of the Public Health advice and situation at the time. Schools will maintain frequent communication with parents providing up-to-date information about the situation.
