Encouraging respectful behaviours in school settings is an action the Department for Education, Children and Young People takes very seriously.

In September 2021, Respectful Schools – The Line campaign launched on television and online commercials and on buses around the state. It promotes respectful adult behaviour in and around our schools and school communities.

To begin Term 3, we are continuing to promote this campaign to include radio and Spotify audiences in addition to more television and online advertising.

This time, we are focusing on online interactions. Adults’ behaviour in and around schools impacts everyone. Everyone has the right to feel respected and safe at school, including school staff.

From social media and emails to direct messaging within apps – Disrespecting school staff is crossing the line. Simple as that.

Help us eliminate instances of aggressive and offensive behaviour directed towards school staff and focus on a culture of respectful behaviour in Tasmanian schools.
