The Department of Education is committed to enabling all students and staff to participate in an inclusive, high quality education system that is responsive to the diverse needs of all learners and staff.
Aligned to the Tasmanian Government’s Accessible Island: Tasmania’s Disability Framework for Action 2018-2021 (PDF, 5.5MB), the Department has developed a new Disability Action Plan 2018-2021 (PDF, 2.7MB) which builds on the achievements of the previous Disability Access Plan 2014-2017.
As evidenced through our Disability Action Plan, we are committed to delivering on the vision of Accessible Island to see Tasmania as a fully inclusive society that values and respects all people with disability as equal and contributing members of the community.
We have an ongoing commitment to developing a system-wide approach to inclusive and respectful environments and equal access and participation for all learners and staff with disability. Our Disability Action Plan will lead improvements across the Department in relation to ensuring access to and inclusion for Government services, infrastructure and communications, collaboration and consultation in the planning and development of services; and improving employment outcomes across the Department.
